Capsule in the New York Times - Dr. Seth Finkelstein, an obstetrician-gynecologist in Manhattan who has become frustrated with traditional pharmacies, has been suggesting Capsule to his patients. “Every time a patient calls me telling me a prescription can’t be filled, or I have to call insurance for preauthorization, that’s my time or my staff’s time, and that’s money and time diverted to taking care of other people,” he said. “The pharmacy should be taking care of this.” Capsule’s “insurance specialists,” who help doctors with preauthorizations, are better at dealing with insurance companies than the pharmacists at chain stores, Dr. Finkelstein said. Join the Capsule team

Santa Monica College Launches Micro-Scholarship Program with RaiseMe- The new RaiseMe Micro-scholarship Program allows students to begin earning scholarships directly from the four-year institution they plan to transfer to, officials said. The program -- which is a pilot for Southern California -- is being launched in partnership with Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a top SMC transfer destination. "The RaiseMe platform compliments our efforts so it just made sense for SMC to help pilot the program in Southern California,” said Dr. Janet Robinson, SMC Transfer Center faculty leader. “The number of RaiseMe partners offering micro-scholarships to community college students will continue to grow over time, so we're excited for what the partnership will mean for SMC students.” Participating students are rewarded with incremental “micro-scholarships” for their strong academic performance, involvement in extracurricular activities and other achievements, officials said. Students, for example, earn $125 for each “A” earned in a 100-level course, $100 for each leadership position in an activity (up to $200 per year) and $200 for being a member of Phi Theta Kappa. The money a student accrues "represents a guaranteed minimum of financial aid that they would receive upon applying and being accepted to a participating school." Join the RaiseMe team

In both programs, AirMap is providing a comprehensive, real-time view of the airspace to help manage drone traffic in complex real-world scenarios. At the same time, work continues on existing demonstration partnerships across the country, where AirMap is partnering closely with regulators, safety organizations and other UAS Service Suppliers (USS) on collaborative activities. You Can Stash More Cash in This Tax-Free Account Next Year - The annual contribution limits for health savings accounts keep climbing. After raising the limits for 2018 and for 2019, the IRS announced this week that it will raise them again for 2020 to account for inflation. The new limits are $3,550 for someone with self-only health insurance coverage (up from $3,500 for 2019) and $7,100 for someone with family coverage (up from $7,000 for 2019).This is great news for anyone who is eligible to use an HSA, as this type of account offers a combination of tax-reducing features that is unrivaled, even by tax-advantaged retirement plans like 401(k)s or individual retirement accounts. An HSA is an account into which you can deposit a certain amount of money each year to reimburse yourself for eligible medical expenses. You also may be able to use an HSA as a savings account or an investment account, depending on the account custodian. (Money Talks News partner Lively is an example of an HSA custodian that gives account holders the option to invest the money they put in their HSA in mutual funds and other similar types of investments. However, not all custodians allow account holders to invest.) Join the Lively team

Factual Partners with Airship and Braze to Power Location-Based Mobile Marketing - Location data firm Factual is hooking up two of mobile marketing’s top tech firms with its Location Engine SDK, the company announced this morning. The partnership will enhance Airship and Braze’s efforts to furnish clients with precise mobile messaging based on the location of the customers they want to reach. Airship and Braze help brands engage their customers, retaining their business and ideally driving them back in-store. Airship rebranded, dropping the Urban from its name, last month. Factual’s SDK transforms reams of location data into comprehensible information, including audience segments that marketers can easily target for maximally effective campaigns. Targeted campaigns tend to be more effective than one-size-fits-all, spray-and-pray mobile messaging, and location is the most valuable data layer on the market. Join the Factual team

Major Brands Sign On to Ibotta's New Mobile Payments Option - Ibotta, an app in which mobile users earn cash rewards, has expanded their services to include a payment feature called “Pay with Ibotta.” Ibotta, downloaded 30 million times since 2012, has delivered $525 million in rewards to its users. Pay with Ibotta is expected to expand their user base. Smartphones have become a part of the retail experience, even for in-store shoppers, and this has led to a significant rise in and ease of mobile payments, which are expected to reach $3.7 trillion by 2024. Young consumers, in particular, are comfortable with cashless transactions. According to a recent study, almost one-quarter of consumers under 40 make mobile payments daily. Consumers over 40 have been slower to catch on. “No matter how people shop or what they buy, our mission at Ibotta is to make every purchase rewarding,” said Ibotta Founder and CEO Bryan Leach. “I’m proud to introduce Pay with Ibotta and give our savers another opportunity to earn cash rewards and save on their entire purchase, instantly.” Join the Ibotta team

MealPal offers affordable lunch options for Baruch students - Finding affordable options for lunch is a struggle at Baruch College, which does not have a cafeteria or offer meal plans. While some students bring their own lunch, most students prefer the fastest and cheapest options that are closest to Baruch. MealPal is an app that essentially works like a meal plan that allows its users to choose their meals from various restaurants. The “kitchen” is open between 5 p.m. and 10:30 a.m., meaning that users have the afternoon the day before and the morning of order their meals. Most restaurants allow users to pick up meals starting at 11:45 a.m. or noon. Customers are asked to scan their code from the MealPal app in order to pick up their meal. The prices vary according to the number of meals you have in your plan — the options are 12 or 20. Discounts constantly change based on different marketing strategies or timed offers— for instance, if users sign up with their emails for the first time you usually get a 40 percent off. Join the MealPal team
